President Romano Prodi, former Italian Prime Minister, former President of the European Commission, President of the Foundation for Worldwide cooperation and member of T.wai’s Scientific Committee, will be in Beijing from April 18th to 21st .
Romano Prodi will be in Beijing as member of Torino World Affairs Institute (T.wai)’s Scientific Committee. The visit has been planned by Center for Mediterranean Area Studies of the Peking University for the development of the joint research agenda “ChinaMed”, whose aim is to analyse the relations between China and the Mediterranean Region.
In particular, President Prodi will be guest of honor at “Made in China 2025”, a get-together organized by the European Chamber of Commerce in China and ThinkIN China dedicated to the Sino-European business communities. The aim of the event is to discuss about the possible implications of the MiC2025, the game-changer industrial strategy which is gaining an increasing international attention.
He will also attend ThinkINChina Event #60: “The end of Europe as we know it?”, dedicated to the role of Europe in the current fast-changing scenario. Will the EU members work together to preserve regional peace and security against rising geopolitical uncertainties? Can Europe benefit from the new trends in contemporary global economy? Moreover, how may Europe use its soft and hard powers to cope with the changing international order, and shape its own paths a 21st Century superpower?
Romano Prodi – as Honorary Chairman of the ChinaMediterranean Business Program (CMBP) – will also hold three special lectures at Peking University, the hosting university of CMBP.
The visit will also be the occasion to launch ChinaMed, the research platform
