Giuseppe Gabusi, Gabriele Giovannini and Stefano Ruzza will participate at the 3rd Conference of the Italian Association of Southeast Asian Studies (ItaSEAS) organized by the University of Naples L’Orientale.
ItaSEAS, the Italian Association of Southeast Asian Studies, will hold its 3rd conference on 20 and 21 June 2016.
The conference will be hosted by the University of Naples “L’Orientale” in its summer schools centre on the island of Procida (the Gulf of Naples). The venue provides an informal and relaxed setting for constructive scientific exchange.
The conference aims to bring together Italian and international scholars and to allow Italian and other Southern European intellectual migrants to build a diasporic network.
The format will include both plenary and parallel sessions. A roundtable about the status of Southeast Asian studies (and more broadly, area studies) is foreseen. The aim is to allow senior and junior scholars to present their work, even work-in-progress, and to get high quality feedback during the conference sessions and beyond.
The conference programme will be organized around three clusters: 1) Economic and political processes; 2) Social transformations; 3) Culture, Literature, Languages, and Linguistics. Each cluster will combine papers focusing on contemporary Southeast Asia with others looking at historical and longer-term perspectives.
